Project Description

Fiddlehead Solar is a proposed 225 megawatt (MW) photovoltaic (PV) solar power generation facility in Eaton and Jackson County, Michigan that will turn energy from the sun’s rays into clean, economical and emission-free electricity for up to 27,000 homes. Planned to be built three miles east of Eaton Rapids, it is expected to sit on approximately 2,100 acres. The actual acreage covered by solar panels will be much smaller.

The project will use panels that tilt to follow the sun, ensuring the project is generating the maximum amount of energy each day. Operation is quiet with no pollution and infrequent site activity once built. The site will be surrounded by a wildlife-friendly perimeter fence and tree buffers to block most lines of sight, in accordance with the county solar ordinance.

Electricity Generated at Fiddlehead will connect directly onsite to the Oneida - Majestic 345kv line.

Development Status

Constructed expected to start in 2027.

Commercial operation expected by the end of 2028.
